Example values: The other metals initially contain 50% silver and 50% copper. Enter the actual proportions.

Your feedstock

One feedstock with a known composition and selected pure elements. Each component is balanced separately.

Available pure additions

Selected elements are available as pure feedstocks. Clear a checkbox if you do not have that material.

What to add

Calculated mixture

You can also edit additions. The target alloy then adjusts.

How is this calculated?

Each metal is balanced separately: existing material plus the actual element content of the feedstock plus selected pure elements equals the target. The smallest achievable final mass is chosen, with no negative additions. Unsuitable feedstock fineness or remainder composition can make the target impossible. For 100 g at 585 ‰ and a target of 18 carats (750 ‰), 66 g of pure gold are needed: (58.5 + 66) / 166 = 0.75. Feedstock at 999 ‰ requires more material when its remainder composition is suitable.

In the forward calculation, a manually entered final mass stays fixed. The entered target mass also stays fixed when the recipe or fineness changes. Only “Calculate automatically” clears this constraint. Editing a metal mass also changes the total mass and proportions.

Use “Target weight” to check a fixed final mass. All entered starting material is retained. No mixture is shown if the target mass is too small or cannot be achieved with the materials. With “Add only” off, only element masses are compared; negative differences are not instructions to separate metals.

The front faces of the ingots show mass fractions, not volume fractions. The calculation balances all specified supported elements. Unknown components prevent a complete solution. Melting losses, colour and material properties are not included. Check composition and suitability before melting.
